We had an amazing time at the 2024 MSASC Capital Area Workshop hosted by Mississippi College. Thank you, Lizzi Tompkins, Ken Gilliam, and the Mississippi College Student Government Association for coordinating two full mornings of activities and breakout groups. We extend a very special thank you to all the students and advisors who attended. Each of you made the conference the Best Ever!
Over the two days (October 1-2 2024), more than 500 Mississippi student leaders enjoyed a series of fun, interactive, and informative workshops at the MSASC Leadership Conference hosted by Jones College. Thank you students and advisors for attending and being the best part of the conference! Thank. you, Emily Flessner and the entire JC team for organizing, planning, and hosting another great conference for our Mississipi student leaders. We truly appreciate your partnership!
Mississippi's High School State Representative, Jack Durr, has had a phenomenal year representing both Pearl High School and the state of Mississippi on the National Student Council (NSC). Alongside fellow NSC members and school principals from across the country, Jack met with government officials on Capitol Hill to advocate for public education in March.
This trip followed his participation in the National Association of Student Councils Conference in Chicago in January, where Jack connected with student leaders nationwide. Reflecting on the experience, Jack described it as an unforgettable opportunity to learn and build friendships, calling their time on the NSC one of the most rewarding aspects of their high school journey.
MSASC is proud of Jack's commitment and the time he invested in advocating for student leaders across the country. We are sure the lessons and memories he's gained will continue to shape his leadership journey in meaningful ways.
MSASC will nominate the next Mississippi state representatives to serve on the NSC in 2026. Applications will open in June 2026.
